WebThere is no ideal combo, it all depends on your area and how you like to ride. I'd start with something on the lower side, 42/17 is pretty nice. This allows you to get use to riding a fixed gear, working out skids, controlling your speed, etc. Get use to riding and controlling your bike, then worry about moving up to a (46, 47, 48)/17 ratio.
